EARTH - THE DANGEROUS PLANET

The Alien News Agency (TANA) has obtained a copy of an article appearing in the intergalactic magazine,'Deep Space'. The author, Prof. Nult, has, for a number of years, published a list of the ten best planets to live on and the ten worst planets.

The planet, called Earth, is listed as the most dangerous place to live in the Universe. This judgement is based upon many criteria developed by Prof. Nult.

For example, geologically, the Earth is extremely active. There are volcanoes, earthquakes, and tidal waves known as tsunami. Other natural disasters include lightening, tornadoes, and hurricanes. There are forest fires, floods, extreme drought, and monsoon floods. The heat and the cold can be devastating. All these natural phenomena kill or harm humans.

But humans are also at extreme risk from living organisms. Bacteria and viruses attack all living creatures, including humans. Wild animals, such as lions, tigers, bears, snakes, and so on pose a serious threat to humanoids. Plants can also kill, many are toxic. The biological imperative of the planet is eat or be eaten. Survival is one of the most important activities for humans.

However, the greatest threat on the planet is the humans themselves. Humans are the end result of millions of years of evolution. Part of that evolution is surviving and exploitation. Humans have exploited the Earth to the point of irreparable damage to the very place they live. Many species have disappeared because of humans.

Water has become undrinkable and the air is unbreathable because of human activity. Today, humans have the machines and the technology to destroy the entire Earth, if not their planet system. Humans have evolved a brain capable of rational thought, but most of the time, humans rely on emotions and intuition.

Another serious threat is humans attitude towards other humans. Killing and destruction are normal attitudes of humans. Most humans will stop at nothing to to gain superiority over other humans.

Besides harming each other, the greatest danger humans pose to the Earth is their over breeding or overpopulation. There are entirely too many people on Earth. The planet cannot sustain unlimited growth. Overpopulation creates more pollution, more wars, and more exploitation and death.

Dr. Nult reports that the best planet, Nede, us completely opposite of the Earth, Nede is geologically stable. The temperature and the weather are moderate and pleasant. The few animals and humanoids are peaceful and non aggressive. The Professor refuses to divulge the exact location of Nede because everyone will want to move to the planet and, ultimately, ruin a good place to live.

The Professor hopes that any Earthlings reading his article will take note and change the Earth System for the better. The Professor acknowledges that humans cannot stop the geological threats posed by the planet but living organism can be dealt with in a different way. The next report will be published in twelve Earth months.
